USMCA
- Produce/assemble in Mexico and meet the Regional Value Content (RVC) rule → tariff-free entry to US/Canada
- The key isn't "stick a Mexico label" — it's whether North American content is sufficient; otherwise ordinary duty applies
- You need a complete Certificate of Origin (COO) + cost breakdown on file
IMMEX Program
- Import raw materials/equipment duty-deferred for export production (legal basis of Maquiladora)
- Suits "import — assemble — re-export" models, cuts cash-flow pressure
- Application has operating & reporting requirements; needs an accounting firm
Tariffs & HS codes
- Import duty is set per HS code; Chinese goods mostly 5%–15%
- Some categories carry anti-dumping / countervailing duties — check before quoting
- VAT (and IEPS) stacks at import; compute total landed cost (CIF + tax)
Certificate of Origin
- General trade uses a standard COO
- USMCA preference needs a USMCA origin declaration — self-declaration + retained evidence
What I can connect
- Accountants for RVC calculation & COO templates
- Customs brokers to verify HS codes, file anti-dumping
- Monthly policy-change briefings (in the group)
Send your product HS code or category — I'll have an accountant compute "what it costs to enter Mexico, and the cheapest route."
